Proper Use and Maintenance of Cinderella Toilets in Hospitality Situations
Cinderella toilets can sometimes encounter issues due to improper use. The most common problem arises when the bag/liner does not fully fall into the incineration chamber during a new cycle.
Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance:

Key Tips to explain to your guests when they Check-In:
-
Bag/Liner Insertion:
-
Demonstrate how to insert the bag/liner correctly. Lift both lid and seat then insert a liner.
-
Ensure guests understand that the liner seam runs left to right, and the front of the liner is to be tucked under the front rim and back of the liner tucked under the back rim.
-
-
One User, One Bag:
-
Each user must use a new bag/liner.
-
Avoid pre-inserting a bag for the next user. Condensation can form between the bag and the bowl, making it stick to the steel during release.
-
-
For Small Children:
-
Add a cup of water to the bag to provide sufficient weight, ensuring it glides into the incineration chamber quickly.
-
-
Heavy Toilet Paper Usage:
-
Instruct users to pour a cup of water into the bag if large amounts of toilet paper are used before flushing.
-
-
Check After Each Flush:
-
Inspect the bowl to ensure the bag is completely gone. If remnants remain, initiate another flush.
-
You can add a cup of water and flush again.
-
-
Missing the Liner:
-
If they accidentally miss the liner, clean the bowl with warm, soapy water and dry it before the next use.
-
-
Capacity Limits:
-
Educate guests about the toilet’s capacity. Overuse in a short period can cause liners to stack and lead to hatch errors.
-
-
Explain the Process:
-
Inform guests that the incineration process takes a few minutes to reduce waste to ash. Allow time between cycles for continuous use.
-
-
Optimal Usage Rate:
-
The recommended usage rate is 3–4 users per hour. Adhering to these guidelines may allow for slightly higher usage.
-
-
Pre-Heating the Toilet:
-
For high-demand periods, pre-heat the toilet. Open and close the lid, press the start button, and let the incineration run empty for 15–20 minutes. This ensures efficient operation for the first user.
-
-
Visible Instructions:
-
Place clear usage instructions near the toilet for guests’ reference.
-
Maintenance for Property Owners:
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of the toilet:
-
After Guest Departure:
-
Clean the toilet and empty the ashpan.
-
Add 1 Litre of fresh water to the ash container and start a burn cycle. This cleans the catalyst and flue while preventing particle buildup in the exhaust system.
-
-
Make sure you know how to open the toilet hatch for cleaning. See our video on how to do this.
